Hancock, NY – October 23, 2025 — The Town and Village of Hancock continue to lead the way in sustainable transportation and rural tourism. Since opening in spring 2023, the EVolve NY Fast Charging Station —now ranked as the second largest electric vehicle charging hub in New York State—has recorded over 400,000 visitors to date. The accompanying Hancock Hounds Dog Park, only adds to the positive reviews and overall usage of the site.
Recent data from BlueZoo.io, which tracks Bluetooth and cellular signals from passing passengers and mobile devices, shows strong and steady growth in traffic throughout 2025. The station welcomed nearly 200,000 visitors so far this year, including 22,812 in August alone, the highest monthly total yet.
Based on consumer behavior metrics and tracking from Bluezoo, approximately 30% of all EV drivers/passengers spend more than 15 minutes in the village/town—enough time to visit local shops, restaurants, and convenience stores. With an average purchase value of $20, this activity represents an estimated $1.2 million in direct consumer spending in 2025 alone, and more than $4.3 million in total economic benefit since the site opened. It's important to remember that spending is spread out across various businesses. This spending benefits local convenience stores, restaurants, and shops located within walking distance of the chargers—including but not limited to: The Old Bat Factory, Sunaco, Dollar General, Mirabito/Subway, McDonald’s, Napa Auto Parts, and the Upper Delaware Inn, among others. The more shops made available, the more visitors can spend—which is why the new Mini-Mart opening soon across from the EV Chargers is expected to further increase local economic activity.
“This data proves that our investment in EV infrastructure is paying off—not just in sustainability, but in economic development,” said Richard H. Lowe, III, Acting Director of Economic Development for Hancock Partners, who helped to build the station with the Town of Hancock. “Every charging session brings new customers into our local businesses, fueling growth and visibility for our downtown district.”
The station’s overall performance has also been met with positive feedback: across hundreds of online reviews spanning all companies associated with the chargers, users report an average rating of 4.1 out of 5 stars. This reflects strong customer satisfaction and reliability across multiple platforms, including positive dog park reviews associated with the station.
NYPA’s EVolve NY program, operated by the New York Power Authority, in partnership with Electrify America, oversees the state’s network of over 400 fast chargers at 86 sites statewide. The Hancock site serves as a model for successful integration of EV infrastructure into small-town economies along the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway corridor.
Official vehicle and complete charging session data from NYPA’s EVolve NY program for 2025 will be published later this year. Once released, Hancock’s report will be updated to include verified counts of cars themselves and total charging sessions to further add to publicly available data.
