Community Support in Action: Hancock Residents Get Free Grocery Delivery and Holiday Food Deals
Good news, Hancock friends and neighbors! 🛒 Instacart is now delivering groceries right here in Hancock, NY — and your first delivery fee is FREE! After that, it’s around $10 per delivery, thanks to our amazing local drivers keeping costs low. 🙌
We always encourage supporting our local grocery stores like Tops, but with this service you can get specialty items from Aldi, Wegmans, and others, but more importantly we know every dollar matters — especially with the government shutdown affecting military families, contractors, and SNAP recipients this holiday season.
🍂 Holiday Savings Tip: Aldi is offering a “Thanksgiving Feast” for 10 people for just $40! It includes turkey, potatoes, rolls, green beans, stuffing, and all the classic fixings. A great deal to help stretch those holiday budgets.
Let’s keep spreading the word — because helping one another is what makes our Hancock community strong. ❤️
👉 Check out Instacart.com to see which local stores deliver to your home.

EAST BRANCH, NY — Local residents will have an opportunity to get personalized help with understanding their Medicare coverage option(s) next week.
A Medicare insurance representative will be available at the East Branch Fire Hall on Friday, November 7th, at 3:30 p.m. to answer questions and help attendees explore new plan options for the upcoming enrollment period.
The session is free and open to the public. There is no obligation to enroll in any plan and no RSVP is required — residents can simply stop by if they’re interested in learning more.
“This is a great chance for anyone who wants to review their Medicare plan or look at other options before the enrollment deadline,” said Janet Holbert Hadden. “It’s completely informal, and you can get answers specific to your needs.”
The East Branch Fire Hall is located in the Town of Hancock, a short drive from the Village of Hancock. The event is expected to last about an hour or so, but attendees can come and go as needed.
For questions about the session, residents are encouraged to visit the East Branch Fire Hall the day of the event.

🎃 Halloween is always one of our favorite times of year — the costumes, the candy, and all the community fun!
As we get ready for the big night, let’s also make sure it’s a safe one for every little ghost and goblin out there. 👻 From bright costumes and glow sticks to checking treats and sticking to familiar routes — a few simple steps can make all the difference.
#HalloweenSafety #TrickOrTreat
🎨Use a non-mask option such as face paint if possible and ensure vision isn’t blocked.
🔦Make kids visible—reflective tape, glow sticks, bright bags.
🏠Pick well-lit, familiar routes—avoid dark houses & unknown neighborhoods.
👭👬Walk in groups; younger kids with an adult; older kids stick with friends.
🚸Use sidewalks, cross only at signals, don’t run across streets.
🍬Inspect all treats before eating—look for unwrapped or damaged items.
🪀Choose non-food treats too (for allergies) or clearly read labels.
🚗Be extra careful as a driver on Halloween night—kids are less predictable.

The Hancock Rotary Club, in partnership with Strength Brokerage, is proud to announce the launch of the “Bags for Food Pantry” community drive — an effort to restock shelves at the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry ahead of the winter season. From October 10 through November 26, 2025, residents are encouraged to fill a brown paper or plastic grocery bag with non-perishable food items such as peanut butter, jelly, canned fruits and vegetables, soups, rice, macaroni & cheese, instant potatoes, dry cereal, baby food, and other essentials.
Filled bags can be dropped off at Strength Brokerage, 65 West Front Street Ext, Hancock, NY 13783 any time before November 26.
In a generous show of support, Strength Brokerage will donate $5.00 to the Loaves and Fishes food pantry for every full bag of food received. This partnership amplifies the community’s impact — every donation helps provide food security to local families during the colder months. “This is about neighbors helping neighbors,” said Leonard E. Sienko, Jr., Esq., Hancock Rotary Food Bank Chair. “Together, we can make sure no one in Hancock goes hungry this winter.” Residents are reminded that food items past their “sell-by” dates cannot be accepted. The Hancock Rotary Club has long been committed to service projects that directly benefit the community, from scholarships and park improvements to food assistance initiatives like this one. Strength Brokerage's sponsorship adds a meaningful boost to this local cause, highlighting the power of collaboration between civic organizations and local businesses.
